Obstetrics
Congratulations on your pregnancy! Growing a family is an amazing experience. The next nine months will be filled with vast changes to your mind and body as you bloom to motherhood. It is an exciting time and may be a roller coaster of emotions – both joy and nervous anticipation!
One of your first tasks as a future parent is to choose an obstetrician. Qualified and experienced goes without saying. Also important though, is choosing someone you connect with, who has time for you and who’s approach suits your unique needs.
I run a small boutique practice where you will be well known and you will never feel rushed. I choose a small practice. It means I can give you all the time you need and deserve and I will get to know you as a person (not just as a patient).
When you consider that you’ll only be pregnant a few times in your life, I believe it’s important to be given the time to mindfully understand and enjoy your pregnancy journey at your own pace.
To this end, there are no ‘rushed appointments’ in my practice. You are given time to be genuinely ‘heard’ – to ask all your questions (there are no dumb questions!) and have them answered in an easy to understand way. This will give you a calm confidence that you understand what’s happening and trust in the pregnancy plan we put in place.
There is also time for a detailed ultrasound at each visit. This allows me to check that your pregnancy is progressing well, and will give you the peace of mind to see and hear your baby. (the best bit!)
I see my role as not only taking care of your medical needs but also supporting you emotionally. I provide you with my private mobile number and encourage you to contact me at any time if you are in need of medical review or just need a friendly ear.
My commitment to giving you time continues during your delivery. I will be actively involved in every stage of your delivery and will assess you regularly as you labour – to monitor you medically, support you emotionally and cheer you on. I will not just arrive to ‘catch the baby’ at the end. As I run a small practice it is extremely rare that I will miss a delivery and I do not regularly ‘sign off’ on weekends.
Should you desire an elective caesarean section I am very supportive of this and can work with you to arrange a suitable date and time for your delivery.
I believe this ‘time to bloom’ approach to pregnancy gives you the best opportunity to truly experience, understand and enjoy this special time in your life.
If this approach sounds ‘like you’, by all means give my rooms a call. You are very welcome to come in for a no-obligation chat. It is an easy and relaxed way to meet, to discuss your pregnancy and have your first questions answered. I would be delighted to meet you.
